OUR PENPALS FROM ITALY
Our peers from Italy are 16 and 17 years old. We have come
into contact with them thanks to co-operation between our teacher
Mrs Danuta Mirońska and theirs Ms Roberta Spicemele.
They attend Secondary Medical School called IPSIA "Ceconi".
It is a vocational type, very big school situated in Udine.
Their hometown lies in the north-east of Italy, close to the
border with Austria and Slovenia. Its population is about 100.000
inhabitants. More details about it you will find on the page
"Their hometown Udine".
The school has about 1000-1200 students who follow 6 different
courses. "Operatori dei servizi sociali" educate social
workers. In 3 years they get the first degree and they are allowed
to work by giving assistance to babies (0-3 years old), people
with handicaps and old people. After these three years they
can continue studying for another 2 years to obtain the degree
"technicians in social services". Just they can join
the university (especially in educational subjects and nursering).
We also found out that it is vocational school with many branches:
electronics, mechanics, chemistry, dental science and social
service branch. Their school offers students many activities:
drama, music, comics, computer, sports (volley, basketball ,
football, athletics, etc.).
They wrote us about their interests, hobbies and favourite way
of spending free time.
It appears that their pastime is similar to ours, no matter
where we live.
We exchanged opinions about our school, hometown and Christmas
traditions.
One day we were very surprised when we got a parcel from Italy.
It contained travel-guides, maps, brochures in English about
their hometown.
See: our photo gallery. There is a picture of our friends from
Italy.
